Bishop Essien Ordains Seven New Priests For Wiawso Diocese

The Diocesan Bishop of Wiawso, Most Rev. Joseph Francis Kweku Essien, on 15th November 2020 ordained seven young men into the ministerial priesthood. The ordination ceremony was held at Enchi, Immaculate Conception Parish. The newly ordained priests are:

Wiawso Diocese gets a new Deanery

The Diocesan Bishop of Wiawso, Most Rev. Joseph Francis Kweku Essien in consultation with the College of Consultors, on 30th September 2020, has issued a decree altering the existing Bibiani Deanery. A new Deanery, i.e., Wiawso Deanery has been created out of the existing Bibiani Deanery, bringing the total number of Deaneries to five. They are: Bibiani, Wiawso, Asafo, Adjoafua and Enchi Deaneries.

Catholic Diocese Of Wiawso Gets New Parishes

The Diocesan Bishop of Wiawso, Most Rev. Joseph Francis Kweku Essien, in consultation with the Senate, on 29th June 2020, issued a decree allowing for the alteration and creation of two new parishes. The two newly created parishes are: St. Anthony Parish, Chirano and Christ the King Parish, Kyekyewere (Bibiani).

St. Anthony Parish comprises St. Anthony Catholic Church, Chirano as the parish head; St. Michael Catholic Church, Ntakam; St. Augustine Catholic Church, Subiri; St. Anna Catholic Church, Akaaso; St. Peter Catholic Church, Surano; St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anyinase; St. Philip Catholic Church, Kwawkrom and St. Matthew Catholic Church, Akoti.

Diaconate Ordination, 2020

January 22, 2020, marked a milestone in the priesthood of the Catholic Diocese of Wiawso as seven candidates were ordained into the order of deacons. It is the first time the diocese has had seven candidates to serve in this office. It is of little surprise that the Bishop, Most Rev. Joseph Francis Kweku Essien, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wiawso, could not hide his joy and expressed with delight during the introductory rite of the celebration that it was a ‘bumper harvest'.

The fourth Diocesan World Youth Day is underway.

This is a section of the youth from St. Joseph Cathedral Church, Wiawso, making the journey to Sefwi Asawinso for the programme.
